VALI

In Norse mythology, Vali is a son of the god Odin and the goddess Rindr. He was birthed for the sole purpose of killing Hodr as revenge for Hodr's accidental murder of his half-brother, Baldr. He grew to full adulthood within one day of his birth, and slew Hodr. Vali is fated to survive Ragnarok. There is another Vali, a son of Loki by Sigyn, who was transformed by the gods into a slavering wolf who tore out the throat of his brother Narfi to punish Loki for his crimes. These two figures named Vali may originally have been conceived of as the same being.
There is a dronedoom band named Vali in Essex, UK. It was formed after several incarnations as various doom bands that never took off because of a lack of vision or direction. In 2007, Vali was fully conceptualised and born. Writing of material was slow, but then in December 2008 the demo, The Offering Of The Horn was released on CDR with a limit of 15 copies. In June 2009, Vali took part in a new doom-sludge-drone music compendium Dirgenera. For audio-samples and direct contact please visit VALI page at MyspaceMusic.
