ROBERT J ZIMMER?
Formed in 2013, ROBERT J ZIMMER? is an experimental ensemble from the University of Chicago, crowned champion of "DKE Presents: Battle of the Bands". Drawing from every corner of the musical universe, the band creates complex, melodically rich, thoroughly composed and arranged, illustratively expressive, and all instrumental Prog-Fusion music with cinematic subtext.

This is the debut album by the ROBERT J ZIMMER? band. It was recorded live at Logan Center for the Arts in June 2017. Performed by: Psalm Brown (guitar), Louis Clark (piano, keyboards, synths), Benno Giammarinaro (clarinet), Isaac Krone (trumpet), Will Davis (drums, percussions), Jivan Gandhi (percussions), and Mike Harrison (tuba). This amateur student's ensemble plays remarkably professional, mature, evocative, eclectic, polyrhythmic, polymorphic, and illustrative instrumental music at the intersection of Progressive Jazz-Fusion, Experimental Rock, and Contemporary Cinematic with lots of stylistic shifts and tangles. Yet despite its complexity and challenging character, the album features very enjoyable and refreshing music full of live and captivating images. Highly recommended for both connoisseurs and mass audience. Mixed and mastered by Quentin Poynter. Original graphic art by Breanne Johnson. (8 tracks – 45 min.)
Free streaming or immediate digital download of the album (MP3, FLAC or other formats) is available through Official R.A.I.G. Bandcamp.

"This Chicago experimental rock septet plays with an almost jazz ensemble-like lineup made up of a little brass and woodwinds section on top of drums, guitar, and piano. The result is an interesting progressive rock album with an unusual instrumentalisation!" – by Daev Tremblay at Can This Even Be Called Music? (Canada) (May 2018).
